Abstract

This study critically examines the travelogues of Ibn-e-Insha, focusing on his distinctive narrative style, humor, and intellectual depth. It explores how Ibn-e-Insha transformed traditional travel writing into a unique literary form by blending wit, satire, and personal observation. Unlike conventional travel writers, he does not merely document places and events; instead, he presents them through a humorous and reflective lens that engages readers on multiple levels. The research analyzes his major travelogues, highlighting his use of linguistic playfulness, situational humor, and comparative techniques. His writing often juxtaposes Eastern and Western cultures, exposing social contradictions while maintaining a light and entertaining tone. The study also considers critical perspectives on his work, particularly the debate regarding the balance between humor and informational content in his travel narratives. Furthermore, the paper discusses how Ibn-e-Insha’s travelogues go beyond entertainment and offer subtle commentary on social, cultural, and intellectual conditions. His ability to turn ordinary experiences into meaningful literary expressions establishes him as a significant figure in Urdu travel literature. This research concludes that his work represents an innovative fusion of travel writing and humor, contributing a distinctive voice that continues to influence later writers.
